A birth companion to prevent epilepsy in children
An NIHR-funded global health study called PREVENT Epilepsy is investigating whether a ‘care bundle’ can help stop brain injury during childbirth and reduce the incidence of epilepsy. Jyothy Karat describes how birth companions, one element of this bundle, can support medical teams during the labour process but also empower mothers.
